FOLDING STOOL

An occasional stool that folds extremely flat.

The project was initially developed for an exhibition of recent RCA graduates at the London Design Week 2008. Called “Changing Dimensions” it asked the participants to consider adding a dimension to everyday objects. My response came as a combination of a recent frustrating task-light and a positive Brooks saddle experience. The result borrows the comfort from a bike seat and its folding mechanism from a table lamp. It folds under 6 cm.

A barstool was later developed borrowing the same principles.

Material: Cast aluminum and steel support

Dimensions: 45 x 30 x 30 cm
